SUMMARY:The Blue Bishops
DESCRIPTION:The Blue Bishops\n \nThe Blue Bishops \nIt’s been awhile since the Bishops played at Tring\, so were glad we can welcome them back this year.\nOn stage tonight will be:\nGeoff Grange\, vocals\, guitar\nSimon Burrett\, guitars\nRuss Rodford\, bass\nSteve Rodford\, drums \nOver the years The Blue Bishops have built a reputation both for their studio albums and live performances. Acknowledged as one of the best live bands on the circuit\, on first seeing them at the Bishopstock Festival in Devon back in 1999\, Robert Cray remarked ‘I will have to watch my back’. Radio 2’s Paul Jones has called their studio work ‘Superb’ and the music press has consistently praised the calibre of their recordings and live shows. \nConsistently excellent reviews have followed them on tours and club appearances across the UK and Europe. With line-ups and guests that have included Martin Turner of Wishbone Ash\, Jim Rodford from Argent and the Kinks\, Steve Rodford from The Zombies\, Chris Hook from Voyager\, Martin Barre from Jethro Tull\, Jon Noyce from Gary Moore’s band\, Rabbit from Free and Rod Argent of the Zombies\, the band has\, and continues to have the very best\, world class talent to draw on for live work and recording. Their last album\, ‘In the Red’ was co-produced by none other than legendary producers John Leckie and Stu Epps. \nGeoff Grange and Simon Burrett\, whose partnership has lasted over 20 years remain the core of the band. With world class players always heavily committed\, Geoff and Simon have created a pool of top-flight musicians to draw on\, so that\, at any time\, they can put on an uncompromising performance\, including occasional re-appearances of Martin Turner\, Jim Bryan\, and Russell and Steve Rodford. \n \nWebsite

SUMMARY:Brave Rival
DESCRIPTION:Brave Rival\nBand members:\nVocals – Lindsey Bonnick & Chloe Josephine\nDrums – Donna Peters\nGuitar – Ed (the shred) Clarke\nBass – Billy Dedman \nWhat happens when you take a drummer tighter than Mick Jagger’s trousers\, a bassist with more low-end than the Grand Canyon\, a guitarist who shreds faster than Simon Cowell’s accountant and two singers whose voices seem to make the world that much sweeter? You get Brave Rival\, the South East’s brand new rip-roaring blues-rock and soul machine. \nDrawing influence from the likes of John Mayor\, Aretha Franklin\, Heart\, Fleetwood Mac\, Led Zeppelin and Tedeschi Trucks\, Brave Rival offer a style and sound that you’ve always known\, and yet never heard before.\nHailing from Hampshire and Surrey\, this modern blues-rock ‘n’ soul outfit hit the stages in 2019 and have certainly made one hell of an entrance. Their sound has been likened to Janis Joplin\, Tina Turner\, Tedeschi Trucks and Bonnie Raitt and after a string of support\nslots opening for Stevie Nimmo and the Billy Walton Band\, they packed out the Echo Hotel Music Club in January 2020 for their first headline show to rave reviews and produced a live album. \nWebsite

SUMMARY:The Shufflepack
DESCRIPTION:Blues to Make You Wanna Jump & Shout \nEVERY NIGHT IS DIFFERENT\, BUT THE GROOVE IS ALWAYS THE SAME. WITH THE SHUFFLEPACK\, THE DECK IS ALWAYS STACKED WITH THE BLUES \nStuart Son Maxwell – vocals\, harmonica\nJoe Nethercoat – guitar\nTom Domagala – saxes\, flute\nDerek White – bass\nAdam Perry – drums \nFive guys\, none of them named Mo\, but still out to play swinging R&B and shuffling blues. \nThat’s proper R&B\, kids\, not RnB\, that funny new stuff they do now. \nWhat you get is a taste of 1950s Chicago\, with a bit of 1940s here and there. Which means Howlin’ Wolf\, Sonny Boy Williamson\, Wynonie Harris\, Jimmy Reed\, Muddy Waters and the well-known apiarist Roosevelt ‘The Honeydripper’ Sykes. Not forgetting the three Kings: Freddie\, Albert and B.B. \nIn between\, there’s a fair dose of 21st Century Chilterns\, with original blues by Son Maxwell\, and his reinterpretations of old blues classics like Evil and Shame Shame Shame. Fortunately\, they still sound an awful lot like 1950s Chicago; none of that noisy blues rock\, thank you very much. \nIf you like your blues cool and yet\, somehow\, hot\, The Shufflepack are your men. \nShufflepack at Henry’s Blueshouse\n \nHere is a sample of “Remember my name” from our Tring Blues Brew CD
