SUMMARY:Elsie Franklin & The Rockets
DESCRIPTION:Elsie Franklin & The Rockets\nBlues\, Boogie Woogie\, Country\, Old Time\, Rock and Roll \n \nRockin´ all-female acoustic country-blues. If you like your blues hot & sweet poured over with chilli sauce this will have you jumping to your feet. \nCarrying on the tradition of music in the Franklin family started in the 1920s by her great grandfather\, Elsie Franklin is a great finger style blues\, slide guitar player and singer. Elsie is a rising talent in the country blues community\, playing old-time American folk music\, incorporating everything from blues to jazz with a shiny resonator guitar. \nShe is widely regarded as a unique and skilled guitarist as well as a powerful vocalist by many highly acclaimed musicians of the genre such as Steve James\, Dave Kelly\, and Frank Matheis\, who describes her as “outright superb and exciting.“ \nShe offered a mix of bluesy\, vintage-sounding originals and covers on sophomore album ‘Miss Rhythm’ (2022). Though if you didn’t see the writing credits on her originals\, you could easily be fooled into thinking that they were pulled off scratchy 78s from the ’20s or ’30s! \nElsie Franklin – National Resonator Guitar & Vocals\nFranchesca Nnoka Shaw – Double Bass\nRoni Reed – Drums & Wasboard \n“Memphis Minnie\, Jo Ann Kelly\, now Elsie Franklin…\nElsie Franklin is the most natural blues singer I´ve heard in years\, her guitar playing is pretty damn good too\, uncluttered and tasteful\, she really understands the genre – she´s the whole package“ Dave Kelly \n“Outright superb and exciting”\nFrank Matheis \n“There’s no doubting that the engaging Elsie Franklin is on an upward trajectory.”\nRuss Cottee\, Blues in Britain \n“I am among a growing number of people who feel her considerable creative energy should be recognized and supported.”\nSteve James

SUMMARY:Roberto Picazo Band
DESCRIPTION:Roberto Picazo Band \n \nRob Picazo is a Rhythm & Blues singer\, songwriter and guitarist. Born in Madrid and based in London\, Rob’s love for Blues\, Soul and Gospel date back to his teenage years\, as regular explorations of his father’s vast record collection and the music of Ray Charles\, Sam Cooke and Solomon Burke gave way to an obsession marked by listening\, research and adulation. Over time\, all these influences inspired Rob to write songs with themes of vulnerability\, intensity and heartache. \nRob’s album Soothe My Soul was recorded in Memphis with members of the legendary Hi Rhythm section\, and released in late 2023 to acclaim in the UK\, US and his native Spain. However Rob has finished writing a new album and is in the process of raising funds to begin recordings. \nFacebook \nWebsite

SUMMARY:John Verity
DESCRIPTION:John Verity\nBack by popular demand and good to see and hear him again this year!\nJohn is one of the most consistent performers on the blues rock circuit today\, having honed his craft over more than 60 years on the circuit at every level.\n \nBorn in West Yorkshire he played in many bands in the area and beyond before moving to Florida. Whilst there he opened for Jimi Hendrix\, Janis Joplin\, Mountain and others\, then on his return to the UK\, taking a somewhat different direction this time as front man with Argent. When Argent disbanded John spent time primarily in the studio\, producing\, recording\, and guesting with\, among many others\, Ringo Starr\, The Zombies\, Smokie\, Charlie\, Motorhead\, and Saxon. \nHowever. live performance has always been the driving force for JV\, and these days it’s easy to find John back out on the road with his own band and material\, and experiencing a musical renaissance across the country\n \nThe John Verity Band currently features:\nJohn Verity – Guitar/vocals\nChris Mansbridge – Drums\nRoger Inniss – Bass \n“And it would always have been difficult to follow the next act\, the triumphant John Verity Band. Verity is best known for his stint as the frontman of Argent in the 1970s\, but that was only a brief interruption in a 50-year solo career.” \n“You are left under no illusion that you are in the hands of a proper musician and vocalist who would have no problem filling a stadium\, packing out any club and bringing a festival audience to their feet. Go see him!” \nwebsite

SUMMARY:Ash Lambe & The 32-20’s and Dom Glynn
DESCRIPTION:Ash Lambe & The 32-20’s with Support from Dom Glynn\n \nAsh Lambe & The 32-20’s are a London Based Chicago blues band and were born out of a mutual love of the blues\, and in particular the raw and electric sounds of Chicago blues. \nDrawing inspiration from the greats such as Muddy Waters\, Elmore James\, Jimmy Reed\, Eddie Taylor\, Hound Dog Taylor to name but a few\, Ash Lambe & The 32-20’s put their spin on the blues\, while trying to stay true to the music and do it the justice it rightly deserves. \nAsh Lambe – Vocals & Lead Guitar\nCraig Rattray – bass\nJohnny Harpo – Harmonica\nBen Peartson – Drums \nWebsite \n \nDom Glynn\n \nCountry’s founding fathers would be proud of the sort of vintage two-steppin’ tunes that Dom Glynn plays. \n In his early twenties\, this singing\, guitar-slinging Brit was already living for and off music\, playing endless sets of songs by his American heroes in music bars and venues in and around London. He’s since mastered the canon of classic country music and has been inspired to write his own future standards. It’s a sound and vibe that gets people drinking\, dancing\, and simply having a great time \nOn his new album his songwriting echoes the spirit of legends like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr.\, while his guitar work recalls the elegant fingerpicking of Mississippi John Hurt and Doc Watson. \nFacebook

SUMMARY:Papa George Blues Band
DESCRIPTION:Papa George Blues Band \n \nPapa George\, born in London from Greek Cypriot parents\, is no stranger on the UK & European blues scene. Four decades of playing “live electric and acoustic blues” later\, he now has a reputation to be reckoned with. \nInspiration from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones in the early 60s paved the way for George’s introduction to other British & American Rhythm n Blues greats\, providing George with a tantalising driving force for developing his musical styles as a rock/blues performer. \nDuring the 1970s\, whilst developing his guitar & vocal skills\, George formed the Papa George Band. Since then he has toured the UK and many countries in Europe the USA. \nA quote from Muddy Waters guitarist\, Bob Margolin\, described George as being “A powerful Deep Blues player…a spectacular blues artist. He’s got power and nuance as a master entertainer” \nWebsite

SUMMARY:Dave Kelly Band
DESCRIPTION:The Dave Kelly Band\n \nThe Dave Kelly Band (DKB) was formed in 1982 when The Blues Band had\ndecided to split up for a while. There have been various line-ups over the 39\nyears\, three albums under the DKB name plus Dave’s many solo albums which\nhave also featured band members. \nThe DKB has always had an eclectic spread of material outside of the blues and\nwill play a selection of blues and soul favourites\, maybe some country\, plus a number of Dave’s own\ncompositions. If venues permit… the dancing is encouraged ! \nThe musicians are:\nDave Kelly: lead vocals\, slide\, electric & acoustic guitars. Over his 58 year professional career Dave has had the pleasure and honour to tour with and/or back on TV shows; Howlin Wolf\, John Lee Hooker\, Son House\, Buddy Guy\, Lowell Fulson\, Freddie King\, The Allmann Brothers Band\, James Burton among others. \nLou Stonebridge: keyboards & vocals. Lou was in the very first incarnation of\nThe DKB. He had produced ‘The Official Bootleg’ and ‘Ready’ for The Blues\nBand in 1980 – their first two albums. Originally with Paladin\, he later was with\nMcGuinness Flint before concentrating on production. \nPete Emery: lead guitar. Pete was originally in the Bristol group ‘The Deep’. A\nband which was regularly plundered for musicians by London ‘signed’ bands –\nregularly by The John Dummer Blues Band and The Groundhogs. Pete joined\nThe JDBB in 1970 and then became partner of Dave’s sister Jo-Anne Kelly\, both\nmusical and life. He has his own very distinctive style and is a unique guitarist.\nHe has played with The Blues Band on several occasions and The Collister/Kelly\nband \nHomer Kelly-Tarrant: bass guitar and vocals. Dave’s youngest son\, Homer has\njust finished his degree at Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) where\nhe gained a distinction for his live performance. He had toured twice with Dave\n& Christine Collister as bass player and backing vocalist. A multi instrumentalist\nand song writer\, he’s the second Kelly offspring to enter the music business. \nSam Kelly: drums and vocals. Sam\, Dave’s eldest son started drumming when\nhe was ten\, a disciple of Levon Helm. In 1991\,when he was 17 he deputised for\nRob Townsend with The Blues Band as Rob had injured his wrist\, slotting in at\nvery short notice. He toured with The Blues Band for the last two years of their existence as Rob Townsend was unwell. Sam has played with various other bands \, including Gerry Marsden\, Peyote Train\, the folk rock outfit Circulus\, and Tom Robinson.
