SUMMARY:Dave Kelly Band
DESCRIPTION:The Dave Kelly Band\n \nThe Dave Kelly Band (DKB) was formed in 1982 when The Blues Band had\ndecided to split up for a while. There have been various line-ups over the 39\nyears\, three albums under the DKB name plus Dave’s many solo albums which\nhave also featured band members. \nThe DKB has always had an eclectic spread of material outside of the blues and\nwill play a selection of blues and soul favourites\, maybe some country\, plus a number of Dave’s own\ncompositions. If venues permit… the dancing is encouraged ! \nThe musicians are:\nDave Kelly: lead vocals\, slide\, electric & acoustic guitars. Over his 58 year professional career Dave has had the pleasure and honour to tour with and/or back on TV shows; Howlin Wolf\, John Lee Hooker\, Son House\, Buddy Guy\, Lowell Fulson\, Freddie King\, The Allmann Brothers Band\, James Burton among others. \nLou Stonebridge: keyboards & vocals. Lou was in the very first incarnation of\nThe DKB. He had produced ‘The Official Bootleg’ and ‘Ready’ for The Blues\nBand in 1980 – their first two albums. Originally with Paladin\, he later was with\nMcGuinness Flint before concentrating on production. \nPete Emery: lead guitar. Pete was originally in the Bristol group ‘The Deep’. A\nband which was regularly plundered for musicians by London ‘signed’ bands –\nregularly by The John Dummer Blues Band and The Groundhogs. Pete joined\nThe JDBB in 1970 and then became partner of Dave’s sister Jo-Anne Kelly\, both\nmusical and life. He has his own very distinctive style and is a unique guitarist.\nHe has played with The Blues Band on several occasions and The Collister/Kelly\nband \nHomer Kelly-Tarrant: bass guitar and vocals. Dave’s youngest son\, Homer has\njust finished his degree at Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) where\nhe gained a distinction for his live performance. He had toured twice with Dave\n& Christine Collister as bass player and backing vocalist. A multi instrumentalist\nand song writer\, he’s the second Kelly offspring to enter the music business. \nSam Kelly: drums and vocals. Sam\, Dave’s eldest son started drumming when\nhe was ten\, a disciple of Levon Helm. In 1991\,when he was 17 he deputised for\nRob Townsend with The Blues Band as Rob had injured his wrist\, slotting in at\nvery short notice. He toured with The Blues Band for the last two years of their existence as Rob Townsend was unwell. Sam has played with various other bands \, including Gerry Marsden\, Peyote Train\, the folk rock outfit Circulus\, and Tom Robinson.
